Job Purpose: The Relief Instructor is responsible for the training and development of Learners in accordance with the agreed local training programme specifications, together with the day-to-day running and maintenance of all aspects of the training programmes. The Relief Instructor assists Learners with additional support needs in exploring their future career and educational direction and in making realistic vocational choices with a view to progressing to further education/employment.
Minimum Education & Experience required:
* Third level qualification, preferably within the Education/Training or Social Sciences sector.
* A relevant pedagogical/training qualification - Train the Trainer QQI Level 6 as a minimum.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
* Provide systematic training according to specified curricula, with responsibility for the instruction of a number of modules for QQI Level 3 - 5 certification.
* Facilitate participants in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to secure progression outcomes.
* Meet key performance indicators in relation to learner placement and progression and achievement of certification targets.
* As part of a team, liaise appropriately with relevant key stakeholders in maintaining programme allocations. Assist Learners in reviewing previous experiences and exploring future goals, using a range of occupational interest, educational and problem-solving techniques.
* Collaborate on the development of Individual Action Plans to support each Learner’s progression, evaluate the vocational rehabilitation needs of each Learner and produce a profile of those needs. Source and support work experience placements and instill by example and direct training, proper work attitudes and work behaviours. Provide learners with adequate and constructive feedback about their progress.
* Maintain all records in accordance with both internal and external quality standards and produce reports on same. Develop curricula and innovative interventions in cooperation with the Programme Development Officer, Rehabilitation Psychologist, Manager and Staff.
* Apply all standards and procedures relating to Health and Safety Acts and maintain the highest levels of safety, ensure a rational and economical use of all equipment, materials and supplies and the maintenance of same.
* Report to the Manager on all matters pertaining to the programme and inform the Manager in a timely manner should problems arise.
* Perform the role of Instructor under the guidance of the management of National Learning Network and cooperate fully with the centre staff and multi-disciplinary teams and relevant stakeholders such as ETB or HSE as required.
* Carry out any other duties and responsibilities within the general requirements of the above job specification as may be required from time to time.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of activities of National Learning Network and actively participate in and promote a culture of excellence throughout all.
