Job Title: Bookshop and Front of House Manager
The Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) is seeking a Bookshop and Front of House Manager to oversee the smooth operation of our bookshop and reception area.

We are looking for a person who has an interest in design and books, enjoys engaging with members and the public, and can work in a busy yet enjoyable environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Customer Service and Reception:
o Act as the first point of contact for customers and members, greeting visitors warmly and professionally.
o Provide recommendations and advice on books and other products.
o Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and queries from architects promptly and effectively.
o Answer phone calls and manage room bookings if applicable.
* Shop Management:
o Oversee day-to-day operations of the bookshop.
o Ensure the shop is well-stocked, tidy, and visually appealing.
o Manage stock of building contracts, budgets, and maintain financial records, including cash handling and daily reconciliations.
o Implement sales and marketing strategies to drive foot traffic and revenue.
* Buying and Inventory:
o Research and select publications to meet customer demands and shop objectives.
o Build relationships with publishers and distributors for ordering and negotiating terms.
o Monitor inventory levels, ensuring popular items are restocked while managing slow-moving stock.
o Track market trends and identify emerging titles or genres.
* Staff Supervision:
o Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate shop coverage.
o Supervise facilities officer.
* Administrative Duties:
o Maintain accurate records of sales, stock, and purchases.
o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Skills and Competencies:
* Essential:
o Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
o Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
o Experience in buying or inventory management.
o BASIC FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS.
o Fluent English Proficiency in relevant software, such as inventory management systems and Microsoft Office.
* Desirable:
o PASSION FOR BOOKS AND THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY (ARCHITECTURE / DESIGN).
o Experience in retail or bookshop management.

Working Hours:
Full-time on-site, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00 hrs.
