We currently have six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third-party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae in all pack sizes under the brand name "Similac". To complement the range of "Similac" infant formulae, the facility also manufactures a range of follow on formulae under the brand name of "Gain". The essential ingredient is liquid skim milk and this is combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurised, dried and packaged at the site and once packaged, is distributed to Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada.
Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for the production of infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland supply quality milk to the Cootehill facility which processes 500,000 litres per day. This secure supply together with Ireland's reputation as a green, clean environment is of significant strategic importance to Abbott Nutrition.
Major Responsibilities This operator is responsible for preparing and processing Abbott Nutritional Products in the Process Department, covering all aspects of intake, process, dryer, evaporator and ingredient preparation.This operator is responsible for operating the equipment in such a way to ensure production of our product meets AI and customer specification.He/she must obey all Abbott Policies and Procedures and Local Rules and Regulations.Attention to detail for all operations is essential.Clean as you go is required from all operators in all areas of the operation.Comply with all batch documentation procedures.Education Required: • Leaving Certificate.
Knowledge: Ability to interpret charts, graphs, temperature readings, flow rates etc.Ability to determine and eliminate faults.Ability to work without close supervision.Ability to communicate all information clearly.Good problem solving skills are required.Ability to accept responsibility for all Process operations and communicate all information clearly, particularly at shift change over.Understanding of complete Process and Manufacturing Directions.Be familiar with Abbott Standards in relation to cGMP and Hygiene.Good computer skills essential.Understand the principles and operations of key plant and equipment.Accountability / Scope Deviation from specification or failure to take corrective action or follow procedures for any period of time could have serious financial and quality consequences. Where non conformances are made in the Process area this can lead to delays to the overall organizational work schedules.
