About Your New Job
As a Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for providing accurate measurements and precise positioning on-site to ensure the construction work aligns with the design plans. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and experience working on large-scale construction projects. You will work closely with site managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that the project runs smoothly and is delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Set out and mark the position of structures and components on-site, ensuring accurate interpretation of design drawings and specifications.
2. Carry out surveying duties using instruments such as GPS, total stations, and levels to establish reference points and elevations.
3. Ensure the dimensional accuracy of all construction activities, including foundations, walls, columns, and other structural elements.
4. Work closely with site managers and other engineers to resolve any discrepancies between the design and on-site execution.
5. Conduct regular site inspections and ensure that all work complies with building regulations and safety standards.
6. Assist in preparing site reports, method statements, and risk assessments.
7. Communicate with subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
8. Maintain site records and documentation for quality control and auditing purposes.
What Skills You Need:
1. Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on large-scale construction projects.
3. Proficiency in using surveying equipment, including GPS, total stations, and levels.
4. Strong knowledge of construction processes, site safety protocols, and building regulations.
5. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with precision.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Valid Safe Pass and manual handling certificates.
