Job Title: Precision Engineer
The Personalized Solutions team provides patient-specific devices to individuals with complex clinical cases, such as oncology cases, where no other device exists on the market to treat their condition. These devices are provided under the prescription of the overseeing physician in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations for single patient use.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work with Engineering leaders to deliver business objectives across the Personalized Solutions team.
2. Develop and implement supporting documentation, SOPs, and process work instructions compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
3. Lead technical improvements under the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP).
4. Complete detailed First Article Inspection of products.
5. Routine inspection of vendor and internally manufactured implants for development or investigative purposes.
6. Generate CAD drawings and apply GD&T tolerancing principles.
7. Collaborate with Design Department to facilitate design and inspection of complex bespoke medical device components.
8. Work efficiently as part of the manufacturing team and support other team members as required.
9. Increase productivity and reduce scrap through modern Inspection techniques & strategies.
10. Support engineering and metrology research, including the identification, investigation, and implementation of new advanced metrology and inspection systems and technologies.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Experience working within a production environment inspecting components from engineering drawings & 3D CAD models.
2. Formal Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline.
3. Ability to programme, set, and operate different inspection machines.
4. Demonstrable experience in offline 3D inspection programming.
5. Sound knowledge of work holding, probing, quality awareness, and time management.
6. Maintain good housekeeping and a safe working environment.
7. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
8. PC literate, with knowledge of MS Windows applications.
9. Flexible approach, results orientated, self-motivated, with drive and initiative.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Level 7 Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience is required, along with 2-4 years of experience working with CNC or CMM's.
