Position: Manufacturing Supervisor
Location: Ballina
Overview:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to drive manufacturing excellence on the shop floor. This role involves coaching and developing Manufacturing Team Leaders and Associates to achieve key objectives in Production, Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing policies, corrective actions, supporting new product commercialization, and fostering team growth within a collaborative environment.
The Manufacturing Supervisor will also be accountable for implementing best practices and driving improvements in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by addressing systemic issues within assigned production cells.
Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
* Lead and support Manufacturing Team Leaders, Engineers, and Associates to meet or exceed performance targets in safety, quality, service, and cost.
* Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address any conflicts effectively.
* Ensure company policies are consistently applied and promote a positive workplace culture.
* Support employee development plans and ensure all required training is completed.
Engagement:
* Foster an environment that encourages leadership development among Associates.
* Monitor team and individual performance, addressing any shortfalls as needed.
* Recognize and reward achievements through approved programs.
* Ensure smooth coordination and cooperation across shifts.
Production Oversight:
* Develop and implement systems to meet Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost objectives.
* Address systemic issues impacting performance and prioritize improvement initiatives.
* Analyze monthly performance data and report on KPIs and quality concerns.
* Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with production standards.
* Participate in production meetings and provide updates on cell performance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve root causes of issues.
* Monitor safety conditions and conduct accident investigations with root cause analysis.
* Track and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by working with engineering and maintenance teams.
* Ensure production schedules align with customer priorities by optimizing machine capacity and staffing.
Staffing and Resource Planning:
* Approve training plans for new Associates (Team Leads and Operators).
* Assist in the interview and selection process for key positions.
* Manage staffing levels to meet operational demands.
* Identify team skill gaps and provide feedback to management.
Project Management:
* Work with Engineering and Operations teams to support new machine installations, workspace layouts, and equipment readiness.
* Ensure timely completion of maintenance and process improvement initiatives.
* Lead process improvement projects and support cost-saving initiatives.
* Collaborate with relevant departments to support new product commercialization projects.
Experience and Education:
* 5-8 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in cleanroom environments is an advantage.
* Strong knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing principles.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
* Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaboration within a team.
* Problem-solving experience using techniques such as 5Y and A3.
* Knowledge of Lean methodologies (e.g., 5S) and Six Sigma principles is preferred.
* Experience with ERP systems and shop floor data acquisition systems is a plus.
* Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., medical devices, FDA compliance) is desirable.
