Job Description: Social Care Worker
The primary role of the Social Care Worker is to enhance the lives of residents in Stewarts Care. To achieve this goal, the Social Care Worker must work effectively with all staff directly involved with residents.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Establish and maintain relationships with service users based on equality and respect.
2. Ensure that service users receive high-quality education, training, development, and care in accordance with organizational policies.
3. Maintain compliance with organizational policies, procedures, national policies, legislation, HIQA standards, and other applicable standards/policies/legislation.
4. Report to the Person in Charge regularly on the effective operation of their work location.
5. Support the Person in Charge to ensure high-quality care in accordance with HIQA standards.
6. Maintain a safe and effective work and living environment.
7. Meet the basic healthcare needs of service users.
8. Supervise or support service users in carrying out activities as required.
9. Encourage active participation of service users' family and friends in social activities.
10. Maintain full and effective communication with families and others involved in supporting and caring for service users.
11. Develop contacts within the local community based on the interests of service users.
12. Act as a proactive advocate on behalf of service users.
The ideal candidate will possess a Level 7 Degree in Social Care and demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of Stewarts Care. They should have experience working with people with complex needs and excellent organizational and communication skills.
The candidate should also have knowledge of relevant legislation and HIQA standards and be able to implement them effectively. Excellent IT skills and report writing skills are essential, as well as a genuine interest in supporting the rights and needs of people with an intellectual disability.
