Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation, regulated by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA). We provide a wide range of person centred services including residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability in the south Dublin area.
We are seeking applications from energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Care Assistant (ID) to provide care and support through a person-centred approach which promotes the person's development and growth and participation in their local communities. These are full time (39hr) contracts. Candidates must be highly motivated, creative and experienced, with a passion for engaging with the people we support on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver supports that are person-centred, which will enable people to have full and meaningful lives.
2. Respond to individual needs, interests and desires in planning and delivering supports.
3. Support people to access community-based services and opportunities, enabling people to develop relationships and roles to ensure people are included and valued in their own communities.
4. Work to maximise opportunities for people to meet their potential.
Person Specification:
1. A FETAC/QQI Level 5 Major Award in Social Care/ Healthcare or relevant qualification - all 8 modules completed.
2. Knowledge of Health Act 2007 and experience and understanding of HIQA Regulations.
3. Values that correspond with Cheeverstown's values.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good listening skills.
5. A person-centred approach to the provision of supports, including an understanding of the individual needs and abilities of each person.
6. Openness to providing supports across a variety of activities.
7. Commitment and dedication to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disability and autism.
8. Good IT and administrative skills.
9. One year’s experience working in the area of disability is preferable.
10. Experience supporting people with autism.
11. Possess a full clean driver's license and willingness to drive.
Please note: All job offers are subject to two successful references, ongoing Garda Vetting and a satisfactory pre-employment medical.
Salary will be paid at the Care Assistant (ID) grade on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales, depending on qualifications and experience.
