The role of the Blending Supervisor is to coordinate, direct and monitor all activities of the blenders and colourists to obtain the required results and to ensure that the team meets established production specifications and schedules, volume, cost, wastage targets and quality standards. The Blending Supervisor organizes production, maintains the installations, and is a role model in terms of compliance with the various regulations, as well as in the development of the team
1. Supervision of all Facility blending staff including training, evaluating performance, providing daily instruction‐ including prioritizing and assigning work and providing direction –and determining disciplinary actions when necessary.
2. Works in a multi‐BU environment, supporting customers across all Divisions.
3. Blends customer orders within specific order guidelines and by specified due date including blending initial batch, making shade adjustments, filling and labelling batches.
4. Makes shade, gloss and viscosity adjustments to meet customer requirements and Facility colour guideline.
5. Prepares spray‐out and draw‐down test panels.
6. Establishes and maintains accurate customer work order files and formulas.
7. Establishes and maintains accurate customer master data files.
8. Distributes activities between teams and individuals according to variations in activities / set daily objectives.
9. Monitors the performance and output of the team and re‐assigns production tasks and inputs to ensure that production specifications and schedules; volume, cost, and wastage targets; and quality standards are met.
10. Assists with the training and supervision of Facility Blending Operators as directed.
11. Coaches and mentors less experienced workers to help them use production equipment or resolve problems.
12. Ensures the follow‐up of the work schedules, in accordance with the specifications, norms and standards.
13. Carries out checks on operating procedures and products (checking compliance with standards ‐ carrying out 'field trips').
14. Performs basic maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot problems, or arrange for equipment to be repaired or serviced by appropriate technicians.
15. Provides input regarding inventory levels in the warehouse/stockroom to support business and meet inventory turn goals.
16. Identifies potential obsolete/damaged material and handle per established policy/procedures. Determines where to use re‐work, when applicable and adjust inventory.
17. Maintains facility to Company standards through proper maintenance, repair and housekeeping.
18. Maintains 6S standard across Facility.
19. Follows Waste Minimization Plan, PSR Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Hazardous Material Handling Procedures, and all other safety procedures as outlines.
20. Knows stock limits and be familiar with stock order procedure.
21. Maintains accurate daily production records for the team or group so that manufacturing performance can be analysed.
22. Assists with the physical inventory in a timely and accurate manner, in conjunction with the Facility Manager and the Warehouse Team.
23. Follows designated loss prevention, security and safety practices according to policy and correct or report non‐compliance of appropriate procedures/policies.
24. Be the link between the different departments; Sales, CRM, Logistics and other groups.
25. Makes the direct treatment of the daily entries in batches. (Closing Ensures compliance with the procedures in place for handling hazardous materials.
26. Works in accordance with our business ethics policy as well as be compliant with our ISO, SOX, business ethics and EH&S policy where applicable.
27. Assists with general warehouse, delivery and customer service duties as needed, including loading and unloading of material, and any other tasks deemed reasonable by line manager.
28. Secondary school level education (required)
29. Relevant Bachelor’s degree or studying towards relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)
30. At least 3‐5 years’ experience in a similar Production role (required)
31. Knowledge of the different paints and their manufacturing processes (required)
32. Knowledge of the internal management system (required)
33. Knowledge of the installations and associated regulations (required)
34. People Management experience; management of teams (preferred)
35. Basics of paint manufacturing (required) Various local regulations (technical, labour, transport, safety, environmental) (preferred)
36. Excellent English - both written and spoken
