Activity Coordinator
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative person to join our activities team at Kiltipper Woods Care Centre, a leading healthcare centre.
The Activity Coordinator plays a central role in the well-being of our residents and patients. They are a familiar and trusted person whose presence is felt and appreciated on many levels.
Job Requirements
* Organise and coordinate activities for active daily living that maintain interest and progression over time.
* Meet new residents, find out their interests and preferences, and encourage them to attend activities.
* Consult with residents about the activities programme and respond to their wishes where practical and appropriate.
* Be proactive in forward planning events, such as national and festive celebrations.
* Establish links with the local community and encourage cross-generational activities.
* Research new ideas and stay up-to-date with developments in activities for older people.
* Assist with producing the monthly activities bulletin and newsletter in collaboration with the MDT team and ensure it is circulated to all residents.
* Evaluate and update the activities programme regularly to reflect individual needs, abilities, and preferences, ensuring a diverse programme that caters for everyone.
* Work collaboratively as part of our multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Qualifications and Skills
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent, or Level 5 Applied Social Care.
* Previous experience working as an activity assistant or coordinator is an advantage.
* Experience working in a care environment, particularly with older people, is desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* An intuitive understanding of the interests and needs of older people.
* Familiarity with HIQA standards.
* A 'can-do' problem-solving attitude and organisational skills.
* A teamwork approach and flexible attitude.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
