We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. Data Center Engineering Operations Technician is a hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation responder. If you like to apply your electrical and mechanical skills to solve problems, we’d like to meet you. Your work will help to maintain one of the world's largest information system infrastructures.
Key job responsibilities
1. On-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
2. Maintain performance benchmarks, & prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility infrastructure operations & maintenance.
3. Generate Change Management requests & Incident Management tickets as directed.
4. Learn and contribute to documentation relevant to business & facility operations.
5. Assist with rack installation and the provision of power/cooling.
6. Become involved with routine maintenance and emergency services on critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, cooling equipment, building monitoring systems, etc.
7. Assist and learn about the design, implementation, commissioning and build out of new facilities.
8. Assist with the management of facility assets.
9. Participate in Construction & Operational Meetings as required.
10. Assist with Work Order compliance and review of contractual SLAs.
11. Interface with Infra Ops teams for day to day operational requirements.
12. Assist in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering or services issue.
13. Delivery of exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
14. Meet daily hours of operations, shift and on-call requirements for response during shift rotations.
A day in the life
Your day-to-day activities will include:
1. Monitoring alarms and systems that manage power, cooling, and fire suppression in the data center.
2. Coordinating vendor work on-site to ensure equipment is maintained and uptime is preserved.
3. Supporting other teams and sites during events and planned works.
4. Handling rack installations and powering up equipment.
5. Monitoring and facilitating the handover of new equipment.
6. Sharing knowledge and supporting new team members.
7. Participating in event response drills.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• High school or equivalent diploma
• 1 to 4 years of knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory; generic mechanical room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units, and fan controls; backup generator systems
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
• Eagerness to learn/Motivated/Self-starter
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Must be able to work 10-hour shifts as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline + Professional Certification in Electrical, Mechanical or Controls engineering.
• Experience in operations of critical facilities (Heavy Industry or Data Centers) which require in-depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems and Data Center engineering experience.
