Clinical Practice Support Nurse / Clinical Facilitator, Theatre Foundation Course
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Nursing Management Team within the Critical Care & Anaesthetic Directorate. The role centres on identifying and supporting learning opportunities in clinical nursing practice, promoting best practice through staff development and education.
The Clinical Support Nurse for the Theatre Department acts as a resource facilitator, assisting individual staff nurses to reach their full potential at each stage of development, with the ultimate aim of becoming experts in patient management in the perioperative setting, including scrub, circulating anaesthetic and recovery room nursing.
Responsibilities include:
* To support newly appointed staff nurses in providing safe and competent nursing care to patients during their perioperative journey.
* To provide training and support to staff nurses in equipment use and technical procedures.
* To design, implement and evaluate staff orientation, clinical induction and ongoing professional development programmes.
* To participate in developing postgraduate modules in Theatre Programmes.
* To lead in promoting evidence-based nursing practice.
* To assist in developing policies and protocols relevant to the areas and perform audits.
* To develop and review standards of nursing practice.
* To conduct continuous appraisal of course nurses and discuss progress.
* To network with RCSI Hospital Group members on Theatre Foundation Course development and coordination.
Qualifications include:
* Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience.
* At least 5 years post-registration experience, with 2 years in the specialty or related area.
* Clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the role.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
The successful candidate must have appropriate interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to perform the role effectively.
