Manufacturing Engineering Technician Contract
This is an 18-month contract role with a 24/5 shift schedule, working 4 weeks on days, 2 weeks on nights, and 2 weeks on rotating shifts. The position is based in our Springhill cleanroom facility in Carrigtwohill, Cork.
About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will work closely with operators, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and resolve production issues. They will document procedures to prevent reoccurrence and reduce downtime, ensuring that manufacturing processes run consistently and meet performance targets.
Main Responsibilities
* To ensure that manufacturing processes run consistently and meet performance targets
* To minimize equipment downtime and support the manufacturing business in maximizing line availability
* To actively interface with cross-functional team members and third-party vendors, practicing good teamwork and communication skills
* To monitor and manage production yield performance on assigned lines
* To liaise with Team Leaders regarding productivity and efficiency performance issues
* To provide out-of-hours support as required by management or mandated by shutdowns and/or equipment failures
* To engage in equipment troubleshooting and resolving hardware/software interfacing problems on the production floor
* To diagnose malfunctioning systems and identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair
* To communicate regularly with Product Builders regarding issues, concerns, and watch-outs on the lines
* To take responsibility for product line performance, maximizing productivity of equipment and minimizing yield loss from the process
* To coordinate preventative maintenance and calibration activities on assigned lines/processes
* To identify and assist the business with implementing technical improvements
* To source and replenish spare parts from stock according to company policies
* To perform equipment qualification and projects work as assigned
Requirements
* Certificate/Diploma in Engineering or Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, toolmaking, or related discipline
* Alternatively, 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry
* Knowledge of Packaging equipment/Automation is an advantage
* Entry-level experience in a modern manufacturing environment with previous experience in low/medium voltage electrical power systems, pneumatics, PLCs, instrumentation, hydraulics, calibration, and AutoCAD
* Business understanding of operations and their impacts essential
* High level of PC skills required
* Flexibility essential
* Strong communication skills with both internal and external agents
* Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
