Our client, a national leader in the FMCG industry, seeks a Global Freight Specialist to join an expanding operation in Louth for a permanent position.
Global Transport/Logistics Specialist
The Global Freight Specialist is responsible for planning and executing transportation from the manufacturing site. This involves overseeing the delivery at each level, from container bookings and port arrival to receipt at 3PL warehouses and delivery at customer sites. The specialist ensures demand and capacity are aligned and service levels are achieved. This role requires close collaboration with preferred partners to support the fulfillment of strategic objectives.
The Role:
* Responsible for ocean, road, and rail freight procurement.
* Ability to file import and export clearance.
* Ability to create tenders (request for proposal, request for quotation, and contract award).
* Effective planning and scheduling of containers.
* Issue forecasts to transport and 3PL warehouse partners of container loads.
* Support the preparation and gathering of information for reports or documentation shared with key stakeholders to deliver great service at the best possible costs.
* Analyse freight costs for accuracy.
* Ensure export documentation is compliant with customs requirements and regulations.
* Liaise with 3PL distribution centers in the event of issue resolution on inbound loads or additional capacity required.
* Validate customer vendor manuals and ensure that freight solutions comply with requirements on packaging, labeling, lead-time, etc.
* Support business transportation planning and ERP implementation projects.
* Evaluate performance levels on site across all areas of the operation, including goods in, processing, inventory control, fulfillment, picking, imaging, dispatch, and returns.
* This is not an exhaustive list and may be subject to change and amendment. As this role will be part of a dynamic and growing team, there will be times when the Global Freight Specialist will support peers during absences.
Experience and Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience in transport/logistics capacity managing FMCG/pharma operations.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Attention to detail, organizational skills, and superior time management skills.
* Extensive experience working with transport providers.
* Experience with customs import/export procedures and shipments overseas and exports documentation compliance.
* Experienced with incoterms.
* Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
