The Role:
As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that building projects comply with regulations and industry standards. Key responsibilities include:
* Reviewing building plans for compliance with regulations and legislation.
* Conducting site inspections and preparing detailed reports.
* Issuing necessary certificates, notices, and ensuring defects are rectified.
* Maintaining detailed project records in the database.
* Supporting trainee and assistant building control surveyors.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
The Person:
The ideal candidate for this Building Inspector role will:
* Be a Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB), or working towards it.
* Hold Registered Building Inspector (RBI) Level 2 or higher status.
* Have experience within the construction industry, particularly in plan appraisal and site inspection for residential developments.
* Be client-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Have a strong understanding of relevant standards, legislation, and environmental issues.
* Be organised, able to manage a varied workload, and work independently with minimal supervision.
* Possess strong IT skills, with the ability to utilise various software tools.
