Associate/Principal Mechanical Engineer - M&E Consultancy
Candidates will work with a leading international M&E consultancy servicing clients in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical devices and healthcare sectors.
The successful candidate will have experience running multiple concurrent medium-sized projects and undertaking a client-facing role in the development, design and co-ordination of engineering projects.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with experience working on a range of sector projects with leading client organisations.
Candidates will be equipped to take a proactive role in forging client relationships and will possess good commercial awareness and robust technical knowledge relevant to building services design.
A Chartered Engineer or equivalent qualification is required, as is a degree level education in Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
Duties include developing and specifying applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for building engineering services purposes.
Surveys, tests and reports on existing Mechanical installations are also a key part of the role.
Candidates will specify activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements.
Day-to-day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with clients is also an important aspect of the job.
Representing the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors is another key responsibility.
Engineering calculations must be carried out to ensure drawings meet required industry and legal standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical content and accuracy of designs and specifications.
They will validate and check designs and specifications, and carry out technical reviews of contractor's technical submissions, working drawings and samples.
Supporting the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the RED Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective is also a key part of the role.
Requirements
BEng, MSc or equivalent qualification
MCIBSE / MIET or HNC/HND with appropriate experience or equivalent
Chartered or working towards
Competent in specification design/drawing for several building types
Previous experience working for an MEP contractor would be advantageous
Good site-based experience with a practical background preferred
Sound knowledge of CDM Regulations and production of Designers Risk Assessments
Good knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
Knowledge of MS Office applications – word, excel, etc.
Knowledge of REVIT and ability to mark up drawings using Bluebeam software or equivalent PDF editor.
Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
Good understanding of British Standards
Ability to prioritise own workload whilst working on multiple concurrent projects
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Managerial skills
Ability to travel internationally
Background in consulting or construction preferred.
