We are partnering with a dynamic organization seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their Research & Development team in Longford. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in laboratory work, particularly within the food or chemical industries, to contribute to the success of innovative development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the laboratory operates efficiently in line with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and remains audit-ready.
2. Conduct chemical testing on raw materials and finished products (pouches, alutrays, and cans), including monthly mineral analysis (Calcium, Phosphorous, Sodium).
3. Perform species testing on selected MRM materials and physical testing of intermediate products (gels/guars) per batch.
4. Handle daily effluent and boiler water testing, reporting and trending results.
5. Source and purchase laboratory materials and equipment, maintaining adequate stock levels.
6. Lead the installation and calibration of new laboratory equipment and ensure calibration is performed for raw materials and finished products.
7. Collaborate with colleagues on current development projects and prepare detailed analytical reports.
8. Monitor and report any out-of-spec results for both raw materials and finished products.
Skills & Qualifications:
1. Third-level qualification in Food Science or a related discipline.
2. Experience in laboratory testing and data interpretation.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with document control systems and quality information systems.
4. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team.
5. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach.
