Clinical Assessor Northern Ireland
We are seeking a Clinical Assessor to join our team in Northern Ireland.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for healthcare professionals to utilize their skills in a different way as a clinical assessor.
As a clinical assessor, you will undertake clinical functional assessments for applicants to the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme (TPDPS) to determine the level of permanent disablement caused by a Trouble Related Incident(s).
You will produce a structured assessment report to the Victims Payments Board (VPB) decision makers and work closely with applicants to understand their condition and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Meet face to face with applicants and review available medical evidence to determine the permanence of an applicant's condition and their percentage disablement
* Play a proactive role in seeking insight and further medical evidence as required from GPs, other healthcare professionals or services to support the applicants TPDPS application
* Gather relevant information from the applicant and/or representative, and analyse and interpret clinical information along with any other supporting evidence
* Compile a comprehensive report in a professional and concise manner, including a detailed history, a full justification and conclusion from evidence gathered to support the Victims Payments Board (VPB) in its decision-making
Requirements
* A fully registered medical practitioner, such as a doctor, psychologist, registered nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or social worker
* Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience (4 years for social workers)
* Fully registered without sanction or conditions of practice with the GMC/NMC/HCPC/NISCC with a valid PIN
* A valid full driving licence and access to a car
* Demonstrable background in a Mental Health/Psychiatric specialty
* Ability to work at pace, set boundaries, manage conversations and keep to timescales
* Ability to relate to people from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, races, religions and cultures
* Report writing skills with an ability to deal with a high percentage of work using a laptop and IT systems
* Strong analytical skills familiar with MS Office, particularly Excel/Word and Power Point
