* Position: Community Respite officer
* Contract:Specific Purpose Contract 1year - 35hrs a week

Purpose of the role
The Community respite officer will be involved in the development and implementation of social groups/alternative respite for individuals we support in our services. The successful candidate will take a lead in the day to day coordination of this service.
Key Duties
* Develop Planned respite breaks as a service to include Alternative and social groups.
* Provide professional record keeping, reports and updates in line with policy.
* Link with Families on a regular basis as part of the overall support. Work in ongoing partnership with Respite and Community Support Services Manager and relevant staff in identifying the service needs. to coordinate existing service provision and future planning.
* Work with the Respite Manager in planning and scheduling of all forms of alternative respite provision to ensure a quality, streamlined service for people we support.
* Work with the Short Breaks Respite Prioritisation Group to prioritise all respite applications. To identify individuals that need to be prioritised for Alternative respite.
* Support the development of Alternative respite in conjuction with the Respite and Community Support Manager.
* Maintain the Alternative Respite Data Base
* Maintain a record of respite provision on a monthly basis and maintain KPI (Key Performance Indicator) records and to liaise with the HSE as necessary.
* Reliability and a flexible approach essential for position.
* Adherence to Ability West's policies at all times.
Essential Criteria
* Candidates should have a degree relevant to the health and social care sector
* Full driving license as driving is essential for this post
* Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
