An exciting opportunity has arisen within Blackrock Health at Galway Clinic for the position of Data Analyst / Report Writer, reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
This is a permanent post, 37 hours per week, and is a hybrid position.
Role Summary:
We are looking for a new Data Analyst/Report Writer to complement our IT Department. The Galway Clinic has the most advanced Electronic Medical Record in Ireland, with a very data-rich environment. The organization is comprised of over 50 different departments with various systems and business needs, creating a vast and complex infrastructure in terms of processes and data.
The role is focused on developing reports for the business and providing the organization with critical data needed to support both clinical and financial operations.
This role requires excellent communication skills to deal directly with departments and gather their business needs to transform them into technical requirements. The candidate will need to become familiar with the organizational workflows to understand data sources and locations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Understand business processes and financial/clinical and administrative information requirements of all stakeholders.
* Collaborate with medical and hospital staff leaders to determine new needs for information and information management.
* Participate in business and clinical projects and provide development assistance to project teams.
* Meet with departments to scope report request projects as needed.
* Create reports as requested.
* Create dashboards as needed.
* Assist colleagues in extracting meaningful data from Meditech to support business services.
* Identify and implement solutions in cooperation with other IT team members.
* Provide clear and thorough documentation, including change control, testing, and development notes.
* Effectively communicate with IT management regarding issues and concerns related to day-to-day operations.
The role holder will perform other duties appropriate to the post as assigned by their line manager.

We are looking for an experienced candidate with a strong analytical mind who can hit the ground running and demonstrates eagerness to acquire additional knowledge as needed for this role. The candidate will be expected to quickly develop strong working relationships with key personnel.
Required Technical Skills Competencies
* Excellent working knowledge of SQL for application development and reporting needs.
* Microsoft SSRS.
* Microsoft Power BI.
* HL7 Experience.
* Scripting experience.
Required Non-Technical Competencies
* Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet timelines on deliverables.
* Works well under pressure.
* Able to perform duties without supervision.
* Able to prioritize work efficiently.

Knowledge/Experience
* Healthcare industry experience will be an advantage.
* 5+ years of working SQL experience.
