Job Overview: We are seeking a talented and experienced Financial Controller to join our team.
In this role, you will oversee all financial operations, ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, and provide strategic financial guidance to drive the company's growth and profitability.
You will play a key role in shaping our financial strategies and ensuring robust financial management across the organization.
Responsibilities and Duties: Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Collaborate with the executive team to develop long-term financial strategies that align with the company's business objectives.
Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports, including consolidated profit and loss statements, balance sheets, budgeting, forecasting, cash flows, and other supporting financial metrics to the executive management team and quarterly board packs.
Analyze operational costs to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for cost reduction.
Supervise payroll processing, ensuring compliance with PRSI and pension contribution requirements as per Revenue Commissioner guidelines.
Manage VAT reporting and ensure timely filing of returns.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
Optimize financial stability by managing cash flow and working capital.
Compile and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts.
Implement and maintain effective financial controls to minimize risk.
Participate in ERP system implementations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
Lead ad-hoc IT development projects.
Provide actionable business intelligence and insights to department heads and the executive team.
Ensure accurate stock management practices across all stores and business units.
Work closely with the internal auditor to ensure compliance across all business areas.
Maintain strong working relationships with key business partners, including revenue authorities, auditors, banks, suppliers, and other financial institutions.
Qualifications and Skills: Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with extensive experience in senior finance roles.
Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Proven track record as a Financial Controller preferably in the retail sector.
Advanced IT skills, particularly with SAP or similar ERP systems.
Familiarity with HR, Payroll, Stock Management, Retail POS, and WMS systems is highly advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for presenting, communicating, and deriving business insights at both company and departmental levels.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to conduct weekly meetings with Department Heads on key areas such as stock management, end-of-month protocols, banking, and other finance-related activities.
Expertise in extracting actionable business intelligence from complex data sets.
Exceptional cash flow management skills, with the ability to perform accurate 12-month forecasting.
Precision in financial reporting and adherence to compliance standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and senior management.
Proven capability to lead and develop a finance team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
