Occupli are recruiting a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in the Northeast Coast of Ireland.
Responsible for providing technical support on Environmental, Health and Safety programmes, and provide support to environmental, health and safety issues within Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, reporting to EHS Lead.
6 Month Contract.
Compliance with statutory legislation and internal policies and procedures.
Coordinate environmental controls and ensure compliance with IPC license.
Ensure records are maintained.
Liaise with external EHS Agencies e.g., EPA.
Ensure compliance with all environmental licenses.
Coordinate site environmental waste management and drive continuous improvements.
Ensure compliance with Battery, WEEE and Waste Packaging Directives for Europe.
Risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
Implement and update EHS control procedures.
Develop training programmes on EHS.
Coordinate procurement, supply, provision and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
Occupational health surveillance programs.
Accident investigations and generate reports.
(Root cause analysis) Perform all duties in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and controlled documents.
Additional ad hoc tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the EHS Division Lead.
Requirements Education/Qualifications:
Degree in Science, Engineering and/ or health & Safety is required (Level 8).
Postgraduate in Health & Safety as a minimum (Level 9).
Knowledge/Experience: 8+ years related pharmaceutical/biosafety industry experience – is required and experience working within a regulatory environment is required.
Demonstrate experience in managing EHS Teams either within the Department or as part of a program initiative.
Leading Root Cause investigations.
Attention to detail and sound scientific problem solving will be fundamental to this role with a minimum 3-4 years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role in a manufacturing or process industry.

Preferred:
Previous start-up experience or Biotechnology Industrial experience would be desirable.
Implementing an EHS Management System – procedures, training and coaching of departments to ensure compliance.
Previous experience with Regulatory Authority such as Irish Water, H.S.A and EPA.
