Job Title: Health and Safety Officer
This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and fostering a safe work environment.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement standardized procedures and policies to drive continuous improvement and ensure a consistent approach to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) across the business.
* Manage EHS programs throughout the organization, providing oversight and governance to ensure compliance with safety regulations, laws, and company policies.
* Implement and maintain the company's Safety Management System while ensuring alignment with corporate EHS strategies and objectives.
* Conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with all safety and company requirements, reporting findings to the Head of EHS.
* Deliver and oversee workplace health and safety inductions, weekly toolbox talks, on-site training, and safety initiatives to promote a culture of EHS.
* Organize and chair safety meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on EHS matters.
* Identify training needs and report requirements to the Head of EHS, ensuring continuous development of site personnel.
* Review sub-contractors' Method Statements and Risk Assessments, providing assistance where needed to enhance safety practices.
* Maintain and assess sub-contractor insurance, safety statements, and method statements to ensure compliance.
* Assist with accident and incident investigations, identifying opportunities to reduce workplace injuries, accidents, and health risks while contributing to improvement initiatives.
* Advise and assist site teams in drafting Safe Plans of Action, ensuring best practices are followed.
* Ensure compliance with safety laws, regulations, codes, and industry standards, attending client safety audits and meetings as required.
* Provide general support and assistance to the Head of EHS, contributing to corporate EHS activities and promoting a strong safety culture.
* Identify and mitigate risks early, resolving or escalating issues as appropriate to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
* A relevant 3rd level qualification in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is essential.
* Minimum of 4+ years' experience in a similar role.
* Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Strong organisational and planning abilities.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
* Full clean driving licence required
