Job DescriptionS&E Specialist – General Safety & High Risk Work OverviewAn exceptional opportunity for an experienced S&E Specialist to join the Environmental Health & Safety team.You will provide technical guidance to the site as well as ongoing projects to ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements related to safety as well as our company's corporate standards, policies, procedures and guidelines and industry best practices.Minimum Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering or related Safety or Environmental field of studyRequired Experience and Skills:+5 years of EHS, Engineering, or Operational experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, biochemical, petrochemical, or process related industryDrive to engage others and have excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skillsHigh Risk Work program and Contractor Management experience beneficialAbility to maintain focus on key goals and priorities, but also analyse the detail to facilitate problem resolution and ensure project successKnowledge and experience working with EHS regulationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to influence both horizontally and verticallyDuties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Develop and communicate initiatives to enhance site safety culture and the Safe By Choice program.Conduct safety assessments and audits in high-risk areas to identify hazards.Support and participate in accident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions, ensuring timely sign-off.Lead health and safety audits and inspections, closing out CAPAs and assigned actions promptly.Facilitate site audits and respond to GSE recommendations or requests in collaboration with stakeholders.Provide technical support for High-Risk Work programs and site safety initiatives with Safety Officers and other stakeholders.Lead initiatives related to Machinery Safety and Ergonomics, collaborating with relevant Safety Specialists.Conduct periodic self-assessments and independent inspections to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.Maintain 100% compliance with all Safety and Environmental Regulations, aligning with GSE expectations.Develop and deliver necessary EHS training programs, including safety inductions and Manual Handling.Represent Safety & Environmental in Local Safety Teams, focusing on Maintenance, Engineering, Projects, and Operations.Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics and improvement recommendations.Assess the safety impact of new processes or technologies and ensure compliance with safety standards.Monitor the safety performance of external suppliers and contractors to ensure alignment with organizational standards.Oversee chemical management for Maintenance and Inspection, ensuring compliance with site documentation requirements.Current Employees apply HERECurrent Contingent Workers apply HERESearch Firm Representatives Please Read Carefully Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA, also known as Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, Rahway, NJ, USA, does not accept unsolicited assistance from search firms for employment opportunities.
