Job Description
As a Windows Platform Consultant, you will support and administer our customers' server infrastructure which underpins the organisation's corporate functions and mission‑critical power system operations.
Responsibilities
Support the Windows Server Operations Team Lead in delivering on project targets and operational KPIs
Develop, support and optimise Windows solutions to deliver high performance, 24×7 availability and disaster recovery capability
Administer all current and future Windows Server environments (Server 2016 onward) and VMware/Citrix virtualisation environments
Identify, prioritise and resolve 2nd and 3rd‑level incidents and problems through formal incident and problem management processes
Support the asset management of Windows systems including inventory maintenance, warranty management and vendor support
Administer Windows server and Active Directory security in accordance with company policy and industry best practice
Contribute to the development of internal procedures, processes and documentation
Qualifications
4+ years' experience implementing, supporting and administering Windows environments
Significant technical knowledge of Windows Server and the following technologies:
VMware, Active Directory, Exchange, Citrix, Azure administration, Commvault or other backup tools
Datacentre management including server installation and cabling
Hardware and software management tools including SCCM and SCOM
Proficiency in capacity planning and disaster recovery planning
Effective communicator in verbal and written communications
Successful track record managing enterprise solutions through their service lifecycle
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving capability
Desirable
Administration of Microsoft cloud technologies including Azure tenancy, Teams and One Drive for Business
Technical knowledge of server and storage hardware
Experience of cluster solutions
Familiarity with security solutions
Experience of best‑practice delivery of IT services using ITIL
Previous experience in the energy sector or utilities
