Education Manager
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Education Manager to lead our Education team. This role is central to ensuring that our water safety and drowning prevention education initiatives are effectively managed, relevant, and impactful.
Key Responsibilities:
* Education Leadership and Management: Lead all water safety education planning, overseeing educational content, program delivery, volunteer involvement, and capacity building with relevant stakeholders. Manage and coordinate the Education team, ensuring they are well-supported and motivated to develop and deliver high-quality safety messaging and programs.
* Strategic Alignment with Drowning Prevention Goals: Design, implement, and monitor targeted education initiatives that contribute directly to Ireland's National Drowning Prevention Strategy 2018-2027 and the WSI Strategic Development Plan 2023 – 2027. Evaluate education-driven development opportunities based on national and provincial risks of drowning and serious water incidents, using data-driven insights. Shape the WSI education strategy accordingly and contribute to national-level projects, discussions, and policies.
* Stakeholder Collaboration and Community Engagement: Actively support regional WSI Water Safety Area Committees and local communities by building education partnerships with national and provincial groups, local authorities, emergency services, and other relevant organisations. Establish relationships that enhance the reach of WSI water safety education initiatives, ensuring that education efforts are visible and impactful within local communities.
* Program Development and Delivery: Create lifelong learning and community-based water safety programs designed to reduce drowning risk and increase water safety awareness for all ages. Ensure that education initiatives are tailored to diverse audiences, including youth, families, and community groups, and adapted to address specific regional safety needs. Implement education strategies that address disparities in socio-economic, health (e.g., disabilities), ethnicity, rurality, gender, and age. Include elements that address physical, social, economic, and environmental vulnerabilities.
* Resource and Volunteer Management: Manage a dedicated staff within the Education section to deliver water safety awareness programs and lifelong learning in the community. Support the education requirements of a corps of volunteers within the WSI Committees nationwide, including the Gardai and Defence Forces. Foster an education culture that aligns with Water Safety Ireland's vision, emphasising awareness, involvement, and support for our safety initiatives.
* Data-Driven Planning and Evaluation: Develop education activity plans based on water incident data, with measurable goals for reducing water-related accidents. Monitor and report on education program progress, identifying risks and adjusting strategies as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
* Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the education budget for related activities, ensuring efficient use of resources to support water safety goals.
* Advocacy and Public Relations: Serve as a spokesperson on water safety education issues, working closely with the Communications team to raise awareness of Water Safety Ireland's work and promote the importance of drowning prevention. Be prepared to engage in media and public appearances to advocate for water safety education and communicate the impact of our programs.
* Professional Development: Take responsibility for continuous personal and professional development, staying current on water safety practices and improving leadership and management skills.
* Additional Duties: Assist with projects as required, contributing to the broader mission and goals of Water Safety Ireland.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around €50,000 - €60,000 per year, depending on experience.
