Job Description
We are seeking Home Care Support Workers to provide care and support for people in their own homes.
* Own transport and full clean driving license are essential.
* A relevant qualification such as Fetac Level 5 or QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support is required, along with a minimum of the following modules: Care of the Older Person and Care Skills.
* Location: Dublin 15.
* Rates of Pay: €13.34–€25.40 per hour, with premium pay rates for evening and weekend hours worked.
* Hours: Evenings Monday to Friday and Weekends.
* The Key Responsibility is to provide a service that enables Service Users to lead as independent a lifestyle as possible.

* Treat Service Users with dignity, sensitivity and respect.
* Listen, talk to and get to know Service Users.
* Makesure that Service Users know the relevant Company's policies and procedures.
* Encourage Service Users to have an input into care provision.
* Help Service Users to be safe, happy and have as much fun as possible.
* Encourage Service Users to express feelings, fears and experiences openly.
* Respect Service Users' privacy in bathrooms and in relation to personal care in general.
* Dress, undress and prepare Service Users for trips out.
* Wash, bathe, shower, shave, groom and clean teeth.
* Wash and brush hair.
* Care for fingernails only.
* Help with toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
* Get Service Users in and out of bed safely.
* Assist with the use of Aids to Daily Living/ Rehabilitation Aids, as required.
* Help with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by Healthcare professionals.
* Respond to complaints or allegations.
* Help Service Users realise the difference between confidentiality and secrecy.
* Be sensitive to the fact that some Service Users are more vulnerable and may have special needs.
* Prepare snacks and meals according to Service Users' likes/dislikes.
* Assist with feeding, as required.
* Carry out general cleaning duties, including cleaning, dusting, vacuuming and polishing.
* Make beds, launder, hand-wash, iron and do light needlework, as required.
* Go shopping, prepare shopping lists and assist with budgeting.
* Assist with personal finances, including paying bills and collecting pensions in some circumstances.
* Cook nutritional meals if required.
* Be willing to undergo Garda Vetting.
* Hold a Clean Garda Clearance Certificate.
* Have your own transport.
* Hold a full clean driving license.
* Provide a minimum of two former employer references.
* Proof of relevant qualifications i.e. Fetac/QQI Level 5 (Must have Care of the Older Person and Care Skills)
* Hold a Fitness to Work Certificate from GP to work in this role.
* Be in good general health and willing to undergo a medical if required.
* Have empathy with fellow Home Care Support Workers and those receiving care.
* Have excellent communication skills and use of the English language.
* Have good listening skills and sensitivity in giving emotional support.
* Have a helpful manner and ability to communicate with people in a variety of situations and from different backgrounds.
* Ability to give physical and personal care e.g. toileting, washing and feeding.
* Will to help with domestic duties, including cooking, if required, in the Care Plans.
* Ability to build relationships with service users, their families, colleagues and other healthcare professionals, and help Service Users to maintain their social links, where possible.
* Ability to work in a team and report to Management Staff any observations affecting a Service User's, their family's and/or friend's circumstances.
* Respect for confidentiality at all times.
* Ability to work alone, use initiative and be mindful of health and safety at all times.
* Experience of being in a caring situation.
