Role title:Head of FinanceRole purpose:Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Finance is a member of the Alfred Beit Foundation (ABF) management team operating Russborough House, its collections, award-winning shop, and extensive gardens.The Head of Finance is responsible for providing full financial, board support and a supporting HR service to the ABF, which runs as a charity. You will manage and maintain the financial, accounting, HR, and administrative activities associated with the ABF in order to meet all legislative requirements.As a senior member of the management team, you will contribute to all significant operational and strategic matters of the organisation.Key responsibilities are:Act as a driver of a more commercial approach to the whole organisation.Prepare a cash flow projection for the year and monitor the cash position on a monthly basis.The preparation of monthly financial reports to support management in running the business.Preparation of an annual budget and three-year rolling plan.Monthly payroll processing, ensuring it is accurately produced.Manage working capital.Deliver compliance of accounting procedures – design, introduction, and development of internal control systems monitoring income and expenditure.Ensure the CEO and the Board have the financial information (e.g. statistics, cash flow projections, and reports) to support decision making.Nurture relationships with existing suppliers to negotiate the best prices for the organisation and identify and research new suppliers.Full responsibility for all Company Secretary duties, including attendance at all board meetings, minute recording, preparing and submitting statutory returns, and ensuring compliance with all legal and charity requirements.Oversee the annual statutory accounts and liaise with the organisation’s auditors to ensure that the audit is completed in a timely and efficient manner.Play an active role in the Business & Finance Committee, Endowment Committee, and the Audit, Risk, Nominations and Governance Committee of the Board.Responsible for management and administration of HR duties, including payroll and implementing best practice guidelines in line with employment law.Financial oversight of the investment/endowment funds and delivery of the necessary financial reporting and administration.Analyse risks to minimise losses or damages.Recommend organisational process or policy changes.Support the CEO and other members of the management team in finance and staff related matters including recruitment, contracts, payroll, grant funding applications, and procurement.Develop and review policy in light of changing circumstances and legislation and ensure that Finance Policy and other related policies are updated accordingly.Ensure effective and appropriate governance; evaluate, monitor and implement appropriate risk identification procedures; design and implement appropriate and effective internal audit and control systems.Ensure stock control procedures are applied.Play a key role in the recruitment of personnel.Person SpecificationIt is expected that the successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and skillset:MandatoryProfessional accounting qualification e.g. ACCA, ACA or ACMA.A minimum of five years post qualification experience, with substantial proven experience at management level in an organisation of similar scale.Substantial experience of core financial management activities including SORP reporting, payroll, taxation, budgeting, financial planning, controls, risk management and related reporting, project planning and associated financial oversight.People skills and being able to work well with all stakeholders.Experience of being part of a management team as the lead financial person.Comfortable in the area of financial modelling (financial forecasting/projecting) and financial planning as demonstrated from prior experience.Deep knowledge of best practice/guiding principles for fundraising and charities.Ability to work to deadlines.DesirableExperience of the Company Secretary role.Knowledge of the Charities Regulator/Charities Act/Data Protection.Excellent skills in financial and quantitative analysis including proven experience in report writing, provision of reports and collation of data.Knowledge of best practice/guiding principles for fundraising and charities.Experience of working in a similar role.How to Apply:Informal enquiries to: Sean O’Driscoll, Athru Consultancy LimitedTel: +353 (0)1 4061924 or 0872202045 or Email: recruit@athru.ieApplicants should send a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role and a full Curriculum Vitae to the email address above.Closing date for applications: 28th February 2025.
