Position: Senior Clinical Engineering Technician
The Mater Private Network has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Engineering Technician to join the Team in Dublin City.
Qualifications:
1. Hold as a minimum a recognised qualification at National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), Level 7 or higher, in one of the following engineering disciplines:
1. Biomedical or Clinical Engineering
2. Electronic
3. Electrical
4. Applied Physics
5. Mechanical
6. Mechatronic
7. Instrument Physics
2. Or hold a recognised qualification at least equivalent to one of the above.
Skills and Experience:
1. Have a minimum of three years postgraduate satisfactory and relevant experience in an appropriate medical industrial field, including at least two years in a clinical engineering environment (desirable but not essential).
2. Strong IT and computing skills.
3. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative.
5. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To be professionally responsible for all aspects of the post holder’s own work.
2. To contribute as required to the Clinical Engineering department's delivery of a high-quality service in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
3. To be responsible for the repair and maintenance of a range of biomedical equipment in the operating theatre, intensive care unit, and in other departments throughout the hospital.
4. To participate in the formal out of hours (on call) Clinical Engineering services.
5. To participate in user and technical training courses as required.
6. To provide clinical support and equipment training as required.
7. To be responsible for the monitoring and controlling of relevant service contracts as required.
8. To be responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of an asset register as required.
9. To comply with the requirements of JCI accreditation standards in the department.
10. To keep abreast of new developments in the field of Clinical Engineering.
11. To ensure that all service records are properly and accurately maintained.
12. To participate in the work practices already established within the department.
13. To participate in research or audits as required.
14. To represent the Clinical Engineering department on relevant hospital committees as deemed necessary.
15. To participate in the maintenance of proper stock levels of material supplies and consumables required for the performance of the work in the department.
16. To cooperate fully with ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Infection Control requirements and regulations.
17. To carry out any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
