Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is an exciting and dynamic place to work. Purpose of the Role:
The Clerical Officer Grade III will be based in the Reception area and will work as part of the Human Resources team, assisting with administration duties relating to the department.
Overview of Role:
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide general administrative support to the department/Clinical staff
* Maintain a good filing and retrieval system
* Retrieval and refiling of patients charts
* Retrieval and refiling of patients loose documentation
* Electronically tracking of patients charts from one location/one person to another
* Maintain efficient general office procedures as appropriate to the post
* Deal with telephone queries relating to the department function
* Process charts
* Make appointments
* Sit clinics
* Liaise with staff in other departments, the public and outside agencies in a confidential manner
* Dress in a professional manner
* Type and file all general correspondence and documentation in relation to the work of the department
* Process and facilitate in the collation and presentation of data in relation to research projects and work undertaken by the department
* Ensure correspondence with GP’s/other hospitals is dealt with in a timely manner
* Liaise with Consultants and their Multi-disciplinary Teams where appropriate
* Use of relevant ICT systems associated with the role
* Other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications & Experience Required
Must have:
* Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent
* Have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher i.e. Fetac Level 5
* Have satisfactory relevant experience which encompasses demonstrable equivalent skills
* Practical experience of use of computer packages to include Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other related packages
* Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written word

* Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, grade code 0609
* The appointment is whole time, full time, part time, temporary, flexible and permanent and pensionable.
* The annual leave entitlement is 24 working days per year. The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year
* Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement
