Purpose of the Role
Our Financial Services Department is expanding, and we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our financial services team. The role may be based in either our Dublin or Wexford office. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a developing department within a supportive and professional environment.
Job Overview
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with clients and internal teams to provide efficient services, supporting the overall growth and success of the department.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain and update financial records, including journals and reconciliations.
2. Process invoices, payments, and payroll transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
3. Prepare and file VAT returns and other tax-related documents.
4. Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
5. Prepare management accounts and financial statements as required.
6. Liaise with clients, external auditors, and regulatory bodies when necessary.
7. Support the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes.
8. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting and financial regulations.
9. Provide general financial administrative support to the department.
Qualifications and Skills
1. An accounting related degree is desirable.
2. Proven experience in bookkeeping and financial reporting, preferably in a practice environment.
3. Strong understanding of accounting principles and local tax regulations.
4. Proficiency in accounting software (Quickbooks) and Microsoft Excel.
5. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
6. Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8. Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
