About the Role
As a Substation Secondary Electrical Engineer at Siemens Energy in Dublin, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities related to protection and control schematics for Irish Substations up to 400kV, as well as LVAC, LVDC, and UPS equipment. Your expertise will be crucial in producing engineering and test specifications for both new and existing solutions.
Your Experience
1. Experience within the Irish Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry.
2. Proficient in the latest Irish Transmission and Distribution standards and technologies.
3. Knowledge of protection scheme application and primary plant is crucial.
4. Experience working in Ireland for a Contractor or Transmission Network Operator responsible for delivering Technical Protection and/or Control Solutions for Irish Transmission Substations.
Your Responsibilities
1. Review or potentially produce protection and control schematics for Irish substations up to 400kV.
2. Coordinate or produce protection and control designs for LVAC, LVDC, and UPS equipment associated with Irish Substations.
3. Conduct cable sizing calculations.
4. Manage relay configurations and associated documentation.
5. Attend internal and external design reviews, providing technical mentorship.
6. Review and build Compliance Matrices, Design Intent Documents, Equipment Technical Specifications, and Functional Design Specifications.
7. Contribute to the production of design risk assessments, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
8. Ensure quality and consistency by conducting functional testing during the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) phase with clients.
9. Mentor new members of the engineering department.
10. Maintain consistency of design by adhering to processes and procedures on each contract.
11. Attend Technical meetings with clients as required.
12. Collaborate with all engineering departments and project managers within Siemens ET.
13. Continuously review engineering processes and procedures, recommending improvements.
