Cpl in partnership with our client Pfizer are seeking a Controller Global Accountant - VAT Accounting to join the team at their Dublin, Ringsend site for an 11 month fixed term contingent contract. This role has a hybrid model attached.
Responsible to: Global Accounting Team Lead - VAT Accounting
Job Purpose
This role is an internal financial accounting and analysis compliance role working as part of the Global Accounting Department within the Controllers organisation.
Overall Responsibility
1. Complete VAT Reconciliations, SAP Journals and Intercompany Recharges for all markets managed by Dublin.
2. Provide accounting and compliance support to the Indirect Tax department.
3. Collaborate and liaise with the Indirect Tax team on adjustments/queries relating to VAT postings.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Understanding of the VAT processes, returns and related journals to ensure VAT position is accurately stated within the US GAAP General Ledger.
2. Responsible for the monthly US GAAP financial reporting of VAT.
3. Process Control - ensure accurate completion of all compliance work. Follow-up and resolve any errors or exceptions, including unreconciled or aged balances, affecting the US GAAP or Local GAAP Financial Statements.
4. Focus on quality to ensure compliance with corporate policy and statutory requirements.
5. Provide business units, Dublin departments and VAT Compliance Team with accurate and practical VAT-related accounting advice on a wide range of business issues across all countries managed by Dublin.
6. Manage errors and their aging to minimize the impact on financial results and avoid non-compliance with internal and external audits.
7. Maintain and monitor processes and systems - monitor GL processes and systems to ensure that they are efficient, accurate, up-to-date and comply with current regulatory requirements.
8. Prepare for and attend Balance Sheet Reviews and deal with any action items or follow up where they occur.
9. Complete all PBC items required for internal and external audits, deal with any follow up queries.
10. Assist the Indirect Tax team with any accounting queries that may arise from a Tax Audit.
Education, Skills and Experience Required
1. University Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
2. Member of a Professional Accountancy body preferred (Fully Qualified Accountant).
3. Challenging mindset – ability to understand the processes and question balances.
4. Solid accounting background with a desire to develop greater VAT knowledge.
5. Ability to develop and enforce a strong control environment.
6. Strong analytical skills and ability to provide oversight of the VAT position month-by-month.
7. Accounting experience required, preferably in a multi-national environment or large accountancy firm.
8. Ability to work under pressure and to continual deadlines.
9. Ability to communicate clearly with global stakeholders including the ability to explain complex accounting rules to business teams in a practical, efficient and effective manner.
10. ERP experience, particularly SAP, is desirable.
11. Strong accounting, interpersonal, analytical thinking, and organisational skills.
