DCEO Mechanical Chief Engineer
Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a detail-oriented individual to join our Data Centre Engineering Operations Team as a Mechanical Chief Engineer.
About the Role
The primary responsibility of the Data Centre Mechanical Chief Engineer is ensuring that all mechanical equipment within the data centre operates at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response. The CE serves as an expert technical resource interacting with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) and third-party vendors.
The CE will be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data centre, supporting AWS infrastructure services. They will also be involved in fire/life safety equipment and electrical equipment.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Management and leadership of DCEO Engineering Team
2. Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance
3. On-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors
4. Operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems
5. Data Centre capacity planning and reporting
6. Assistance in the design and build out of new facilities
7. Coordination with IT managers and business leaders to manage projects and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency
8. Delivery of quality service and meeting customer demands
9. Asset and inventory management
10. Response to out-of-hours emergency calls
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
2. Extensive industry-related experience with UPS, backup generator systems, and generic mechanical-room infrastructure
3. Proficient with IT programs such as Microsoft Office products
4. Experience in operations and on-call support for Data Center facilities or Mission Critical Plants/Production facilities
5. Master Degree in a technical field - Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer or equivalent
6. Project Management experience
Estimated Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year depending on location and experience.
