RTÉ Technology Support Engineer
RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann) is Ireland's national public-service media organisation. A leader in Irish media, RTÉ provides comprehensive, cost-effective, free-to-air media services to the public in Ireland and interested audiences internationally.
RTÉ Technology is responsible for leading and driving the implementation of the technology strategy, and for stimulating change and new ways of working across the organisation in order to empower and enable RTÉ to be an effective and efficient digital content and channels business.
The organisation maintains a diverse portfolio of systems and applications and is also undertaking a renewal of its technology estate. RTÉ Technology is looking for an experienced Technology Support Engineer to manage current and new system environments.
Reporting to the Head of Applications and Systems, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for the support and maintenance of a variety of production related systems. The job involves working with internal and external teams as well as working independently. The role requires primarily business hours. However, depending upon the needs of the organisation, specific projects or special events there will be a requirement to work outside of business hours from time to time. A flexible and collaborative approach to work is therefore essential.
Responsibilities include:
1. System administration and management of media-related workflows
2. User Support – both on-site and remote
3. Handling second-level help desk tickets
4. Investigating and remediating system/service outages
5. Managing physical and virtualised server instances
6. Patching and upgrading servers
7. Ensuring DR processes are in place and operational
8. Installing and configuring applications
9. Technical testing of applications
10. Working as Technical Project Lead to deliver project-based work in a timely and efficient manner
11. Liaising with internal and external support teams and organisations
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
12. Experience of media workflow management systems and processes
13. Proficiency in Windows/Linux environments
14. Telestream - Vantage
15. Office365 ecosystem (SharePoint, Teams, Project, OneDrive etc)
16. Experience of Azure / AWS
17. Experience of Citrix, VMWare VCentre, Commvault would be advantageous
18. Knowledge of Microsoft Powershell
19. Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
20. Microsoft SQL/Oracle database administration skills would be very advantageous
Qualifications and Experience:
21. A bachelor's degree in information technology systems or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
22. Microsoft Certification / Training
23. 5+ years experience (desirable)
