Post Summary The successful candidate will undertake a leadership role within IDS-TILDA, advising and guiding on advanced approaches in statistical methodology for longitudinal study designs This involves guiding the study in identifying the key influences on successful ageing among persons with intellectual disability and comparing them to the general population.
The candidate will also contribute to understanding health characteristics, service needs, and disparities in health outcomes for older persons with intellectual disabilities.
Context IDS-TILDA is a longitudinal study focusing on ageing among people with intellectual disability aged 40 and over in Ireland.
It is the first of its kind in Europe and the only study that directly compares the ageing of people with intellectual disabilities to the general ageing population.
The study aims to uncover the factors contributing to successful ageing and build a baseline for longitudinal follow-up.
IDS-TILDA embodies values such as inclusion, empowerment, and best practice, and it engages a multidisciplinary team of researchers from diverse fields including geriatrics, psychiatry, psychology, and health economics.
The project is deeply connected to both national and international research networks, ensuring its prominence in the field of ageing and intellectual disability research.
Main Responsibilities This is a list of the tasks, duties, and responsibilities for the role.
Provide leadership, management and training on statistical methodology for IDS-TILDA, advising best practices on cross-sectional and longitudinal approaches.
Conduct advanced statistical analysis of the current data within the IDS-TILDA datasets, provide statistical advice specific to longitudinal population studies.
Develop policies and procedures in relation to data management for IDS-TILDA.
Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs), project directors, and research teams to develop appropriate statistical methodologies, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
Oversee and manage the statistical analysis process, ensuring adherence to established research procedures, compliance with ethical guidelines, and maintaining consistency with best practices in data management and reporting.
Guide and assist researchers and students (MSc/PhD/undergraduate) in refining and conducting statistical analyses.
Conduct and supervise analyses of IDS-TILDA datasets, ensuring high-quality outputs suitable for publication in top journals.
Inform and advise on the design of future waves of data collection in IDS-TILDA.
Manage a large multi-wave longitudinal dataset, leading the creation, cleaning, updating, maintenance, and validation of surveys and datasets.
Supervise, support and manage the work of the Data Management team and represent data management team on the Senior Executive Committee.
Create reports as required by IDS-TILDA Senior Executive Committee.
Assist with data management, including merging, testing, and preparing user-defined datasets for analysis, and ensure integrity and compliance in data collection, including preparation for archiving.
Support the development of high-quality research outputs publishable in international journals, advise on statistical approaches for IDS-TILDA reports and other outputs, and support the dissemination of research findings to stakeholders, such as policymakers and healthcare professionals.
Responsibility for long-term planning of IDS-TILDA data management strategy and monitor performance in relation to strategic goals of the study.
Develop new approaches and processes that improve data quality for the use of internal and external stakeholders of the university Work with and guide researchers in the group to identify and address common analytical issues faced.
Respond to ad hoc data requests and contribute to dissemination to key stakeholders.
Liaise with the fieldwork agency regarding the development and testing of the Computer Aided Personal Interviewing (CAPI) program and make corrections as needed.
Merge and test the main questionnaire before scripting by the fieldwork agency, making recommendations for user-friendly data collection.
Routinely assess the completeness and accuracy of data, including establishing related algorithms.
Oversee the refreshing of the sample strategy and calculation of non-response rates, and document sample selection and implementation.
Contribute to grant proposals, IDS-TILDA reports, and providing statistical support for research publications.
Work collaboratively with the team and provide data training, including data protection training, to all researchers who use the data.
Other duties as assigned by the Director and Associate Directors of the Research Centre and Administrative Officer.
Post status: Specific Purpose Contract The specific purpose of this post is to cover the duration of the IDS-TILDA Wave 6.
Hours of Post: 35 hours per week Salary: This appointment will be made on the Administrative 2 Salary Scale (€57,270 - €67,293 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
