20FIFTY Partners is a mission-led organisation that has been driving awareness and action on the climate and sustainability agenda for the past twenty years through research and education. We have worked closely with national enterprise agencies and 1000’s of businesses in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives within Ireland, the UK and across Europe.
The 20FIFTY Partners Research Centre has a successful track record in delivering national and internationally funded research projects in Climate Action, Industrial Water Stewardship, and Circularity, delivering industry led applied research with a focus on practical evidence-based impact in association with our Communities of Practice. We work with both national and international stakeholders, industry groups and enterprise agencies, running flagship programmes. These include the internationally recognised Water Stewardship Ireland, Skillnet Climate Ready Academy and Origin Green Academy while funding partners include EPA and Horizon Europe.
Role Description
20FIFTY Partners are seeking an experienced L&D Researcher to support the ongoing growth of the 20FIFTY Partners Research Centre’s research profile and activities both nationally and internationally. This applied research role is of strategic importance for the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Research, the L&D Researcher will lead, manage, and support significant research project activity that will guide the development of a framework and associated training interventions for key external clients in both the public and private sectors.
The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of learning and development and competency frameworks to deliver key research outcomes that support our mission to enable organisations to transition to a more sustainable future.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
* Lead the design and development of research into sustainability skills and competencies
* Understand emerging L&D trends in the industrial and public sectors in the sustainability and climate domain
* Investigate the effectiveness of various learning approaches (e.g., e-learning, blended learning, classroom training, microlearning, etc.)
* Independently manage and execute primary and secondary research
* Provide evidence-based insights to L&D teams or senior management to help them make data-driven decisions about training initiatives
* Lead research project dissemination, in whatever form (reports, papers, chapters, books)
* Present information on research progress and outcomes e.g. to bodies supervising research; conferences, steering groups; other team members, as agreed with the project leader
* Draft skills-based thought leadership and insights publications
* Attend and network at relevant conferences and meetings hosted by professional institutions and other universities for information exchange and relationship building for future projects
* Read academic journals to stay informed on best practices in L&D research and deepen understanding of relevant issues in workforce education
* Keep abreast of the latest advancements in learning technologies, instructional methods, and research in educational psychology
* Design, develop and deliver L&D models, frameworks and strategies for private sector clients
* Serve as a trusted advisor and learning partner to external clients, providing technical expertise and advice on workforce performance, skills gaps assessments and competency strategies
* Provide technical expertise and resources in the development of new learning programmes required based on technical competency maps
* Collect qualitative and quantitative data on employee performance, engagement, and retention of training content, and analyse the impact of learning programs on business outcomes
* Assess research findings for the need/scope for further investigations / commercial exploitation
Qualifications
Candidate Requirements
* Requires a primary Degree in Human Resources, Learning and Development, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Relevant Ph.D. in the area of Learning Science, Organisational Psychology or Equivalent industry experience with a Master’s Level Qualification in the field
Experience
* A minimum of 3 years L&D experience in corporate projects
* An ability to diagnose development gaps, design innovative solutions and facilitate interventions
* Experience in talent management, recruitment, training needs analysis and performance assessment
* Experience in developing competency-based models for organisations
* Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, processes, and methodologies including methods and techniques used in training assessment, design, development, and measurement
* Experience in supporting organisations to develop skills and competencies to support more sustainable futures is highly desirable
Skills and Competencies
* Proficient in qualitative and quantitative research methods
* Ability to interpret data and extract meaningful conclusions to inform L&D strategies
* Familiar with various learning models and how they apply to adult learning
* Proficient in writing research reports, presenting findings to non-experts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team
