Job DescriptionA fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Fire & Safety Systems Specialist. You will ensure the site’s readiness of the emergency response program, maintenance and operation of the fire detection systems and other emergency response facilities.This position will ensure the Emergency and Incident response teams operations are able to respond flawlessly to emergency situations at site. This will be achieved through the deployment of world class systems and processes, training and exercises to ensure the site has robust emergency and safety processes to protect people, business assets and resources.Bring energy, knowledge, innovation to carry out the following:Ensure that the emergency response program, fire detection, sprinkler, gas monitoring and other site safety systems are operating as intended.Ensure proper maintenance and testing of fire safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems and gas suppression systems.Proactively deal with issues with these critical systems to ensure the systems operate reliably.Lead investigations when safety systems do not operate as intended and implement appropriate corrective/ preventative actions.Co-ordinate with third party vendors to ensure the correct maintenance at the correct frequencies are executed on these systems.Oversee training and development of the site’s emergency response team. Ensuring training plans in accordance with the site needs, refresher training is completed ontime, new ERT members are onboarded to the team per site emergency response procedure.Ensure ERT equipment such as gas detection equipment, breathing apparatus, etc are inspected and maintained using site CMMS.Lead the site emergency management program through development of internal emergency plans through provision of instruction and training of various groups across site along with regular emergency management drills and evacuations in line with industry best practice and our company’s safety standards.Lead monthly ERT Steering team meeting, reporting on recent events, changes and continuous improvement opportunities.Liaise with other Ireland sites to build collaboration, sharing training opportunities and knowledge.Maintain up to date records and files kept for statutory purposes.Site Custodian for relevant EHS and Engineering standards for fire safety.Ensure that actions as highlighted from 3rd party service providers are completed and in accordance with local standards.Act as site point of contact and site SME (Subject Matter Expert) to project teams on any modifications/upgrades to relevant site systems.Provide oversight and support to the inspection/testing and maintenance of other site safety systems i.e. fire extinguishers, safety showers, safety signage etc.) in conjunction with relevant service providers.What skills you will need:In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:Degree or 3rd Level Qualification (Technical/Engineering) discipline or equivalentAt least 3 Years’ experience in similar role dealing with complex fire safety systems and controls.Understanding of fire alarm and fire protection systems including sprinklers fire suppression and gas detection systems, experience in their maintenance and operation and adherence to compliance requirements.Vendor Management, including setting and managing budgets.Ability to act as the site SME and Fire safety standard owner, looking for efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities, while offering SME support to sitewide projects.Solid understanding of emergency response procedures and evacuation protocols.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify fire hazards and develop effective solutions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver training and collaborate with employees, agencies, and external stakeholders.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and reports.Physical ability to conduct inspections and participate in fire drills or emergency scenarios.As a company, we are committed to 'Inventing for Life' in all that we do.
