Job Purpose
The Maintenance Planner is a key role responsible for the proactive planning of maintenance work at the Blarney site. This includes the preparation and prioritization of job plans, resource allocation, downtime mitigation planning, and continuous improvement of the Work Management System (WMS).

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess and prioritize work requests/orders on the Merck WMS (SAP Next), ensuring adherence to all stages of the WMS (Preventative Maintenance & Calibration activities):
Notification, Gatekeeping, Planning, Scheduling, Execution, Review
- Develop and enhance the WMS process as needed
- Schedule planned downtime with Operations (Production and Planning Functions)
- Create job plans showing What & How (Documents, Drawings, Repair Manuals etc.)
- Determine Job Resources: Skills, Parts & Materials, Permits, Regulatory Requirements, Overall Cost of the Job
- Support the addition of equipment assets onto the SAP system
- Review Work Order (WO) durations for Continuous Improvement
- Ensure resources necessary for a job are accounted for and available prior to releasing the work
- Develop detailed plans for maintenance shutdowns to assist Maintenance Supervisors and the team
- Collaborate with the Membrane & Media Engineering team to develop work schedules
- Support PM Scrubbing (optimisation and rationalisation of PMs)
- Integrate information relating to new equipment and assets into maintenance systems and repositories
- Work closely with other functions (Quality, EHS, Engineering) to achieve maintenance and business goals
- Support Development, Review and Update of Maintenance SOPs
- Participate in audits to ensure quality compliance
- Develop and track departmental KPIs (schedule attainment, labour utilization, work order backlog, PM/calibration completion rates, spare usage and costs control)
- Manage maintenance contracts and contractors
- Analyze equipment data to report on equipment performance
- Support development and review of vendor service contracts and raise purchase requisitions as required
Requirements
- Trades qualified or Engineering/Science Degree or recognised equivalent
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in manufacturing, preferably within the Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical Industry
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control systems in a production environment
Key Competencies
- Previous experience within an ATEX environment an advantage
- Demonstrated high performance history, proven ability to execute and get results
- Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organisation
- Preferable experience with SAP Next Maintenance Management System
- Knowledge of Reliability Excellence (Rx) and Proactive Maintenance, including predictive, precision and design for maintainability/reliability approaches
- Excellent awareness and experience in relation to Quality and Environmental Health and Safety
- Familiar with GMP requirements within a regulated industry
- Effective verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
