This role combines hands-on instructional design with leadership responsibilities, focusing on mentoring the team, driving process improvements, and delivering innovative, engaging learning experiences for our customers. The role involves managing day-to-day team activities, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, and fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Design: Lead the design and development of innovative and dynamic courseware to meet the needs of DBS learners. Collaborate with the Product Manager to translate course concepts into actionable design briefs, ensuring seamless handover to the appropriate Learning Designer for development. • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to envision and create course materials aligned with desired learning outcomes. Ensure courses meet the highest quality standards, incorporating best practices in accessibility, engagement, and pedagogy. Team Leadership & Development: Provide line management for the learning design team, including coaching, mentoring, and professional development support. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team. • Provide ongoing support and guidance to Learning Designers, ensuring they have the resources, clarity, and feedback needed to successfully develop their courses. Act as the first point of contact for escalations, guidance, and support for team members.Process OptimisationWork closely with the Production Lead to streamline workflows, improve efficiencies, and ensure timely delivery of projects. Drive the continuous improvement of the college’s content development processes, introducing new tools, methodologies, and approaches as needed. Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to align deliverables with institutional goals. • Act as a liaison between the learning design team and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on expectations. Quality Assurance & Innovation Ensure all course content is reviewed against quality standards and learning goals. • Bring innovative ideas to the table to enhance learner engagement, course effectiveness and efficiencies, in particular through the adoption of AI technologies. Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support the success of DBS learning initiatives. Contribute to shaping DBS's long-term strategy for online and blended learning solutions. Performance Management and Reporting Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the learning design team, ensuring alignment with DBS Creative Studios’ strategic goals. Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on team performance, project progress, and course outcomes. Use data-driven analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and support team members in achieving their objectives. Required Skills and Experience: Postgraduate qualification in Instructional Design, eLearning, Technology-Enhanced Learning, or a related field. Proven experience in instructional design and the development of multimodal courseware, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise. Experience leading or managing teams, with the ability to coach and develop others. Strong knowledge of instructional design models, such as ADDIE, SAM, or Universal Design, and familiarity with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise 360). Exceptional organisational, communication, and project management skills. Creative problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering practical, high-impact solutions.A strong commitment to higher education and a willingness to innovate within this sector.
