Job Description
To manage and lead a service and staff team providing a program of care, learning and developmental support to children and young adults with additional needs and their parents/guardians.
Contract type: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract with option to extend subject to funding. 6 month probation period will be applied.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week flexible weekend work and evening work required.
Reporting to: Childhood Days Board of Directors
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Ensuring the overall safety and well-being of the children using the service in line with all service policies and procedures.
2. Responding to requests for and allocating childcare places and organising waiting lists.
3. Supporting and assisting and communication with parents/guardians.
4. Ensuring planning and delivery of plans by staff that are developed for individual children using the service as well as groups of children where appropriate.
5. Liaising with HSE and Tusla in relation to children and family needs as required. Linking with the HSE special needs coordinator.
6. Reviewing and updating policies/procedures/protocols.
7. Ensuring confidentiality and abidance with GDPR.
8. Acting Designated liaison person with responsibility for ensuring that reporting procedures within the organisation are followed to ensure childwelfare and protection.
Staff Management and Supervision
9. General Human Resource management and Staff supervision of the service staff team on a daily basis.
10. Ensuring service plans are implemented by staff team for the benefit of children and families who use the service.
11. Ensuring staff are compliant with and adhering to all relevant service policies / procedures and protocols.
12. Provision of supervision sessions on a regular basis with each individual staff team member.
13. Overseeing staff continuous professional development including ongoing staff training / upskilling necessary for carrying out their duties.
14. Responsible for child care plans
15. Organising staff rosters and annual leave.
16. Oversee induction of new staff and assess relevant training needs.
17. Maintaining all records.
Financial Management & Planning
18. Managing and maintaining financial income and expenditure accounts on a day to day basis.
19. Preparing and submitting funding applications and reporting to various funding and statutory agencies.
20. Preparing regular financial update reports for presentation to service Board of Directors for their Board Meetings.
21. Liaising with Pobal, HSE and Dept. of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth as required.
22. Identifying funding streams and implementing change
General Administration / Health & Safety Management
23. Ensuring that all relevant day to day records such as Hygiene, Equipment checks and maintenance are up to date and checked and recorded.
24. Ensuring all online portals / platforms are checked regularly for notifications / requests and submissions of funding applications / child registrations etc.
25. Ensuring a good standard of hygiene is maintained in all areas / aspects of work and activity in the service.
26. Ensuring medication is administered safely and stored safely, recorded and signed off by two staff members. Parent/guardian permissions stored and recorded.
27. Reporting to the service Board of Directors regularly for support and direction on a regular basis.
28. Ensuring all reporting requirements are prepared and submitted in relation to all aspects of the service to the service Board of Directors and outside agencies as required.
29. Ensuring that equipment is well maintained and safe to use
30. Organising fire drills monthly and other health and safety checks regularly
31. Overseeing maintenance of the bus and ensuring it is kept in a safe condition. Maintaining all relevant documentation in line with RSA requirements including driver daily walk around checks and biannual service and annual CRVT tests and registration.
32. Any duties arising as reasonably requested to be completed by the service Board of Directors
The successful candidate must have
33. QQI Level 7 Early Years Education Qualification
34. A minimum of three years experience working directly with children in an Early Learning and Care and / or School Age Childcare Setting or other relevant childcare setting.
35. Excellent communications skills
36. Knowledge of IT systems / software packages such as MS Word / Excel
37. Knowledge of relevant legislation / regulations / policy relevant to Childhood Days
38. Knowledge of HR
39. Experience in managing staff and volunteers and staff rosters
