Role Overview:
The Head of Tax is responsible for overseeing all tax-related matters for Group entities in Ireland, ensuring compliance with both local and international tax regulations. The role is pivotal in protecting the Group’s reputation by managing tax risks and collaborating with the Group Tax Department in Paris. The Head of Tax reports functionally to the Central Head of Group Tax and hierarchically to the CFO, CIB Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
* Tax Compliance & Reporting: Lead tax reporting and filing for CT, VAT, DIRT, FATCA, AEOI, and other tax obligations in line with Irish and international requirements. Ensure timely, accurate submissions and payment of taxes.
* Tax Advisory: Provide tax advice on structuring, compliance, and reporting for the business in Ireland. Offer strategic insights on new activities/products launched in the region.
* Stakeholder Management: Act as the main point of contact for tax matters with the Irish Tax Authority and external auditors. Maintain collaborative relationships with internal business leaders, external tax advisors, and the Group Tax Department.
* Risk Management & Tax Strategy: Assess and manage tax risks. Ensure compliance with evolving tax regulations and internal controls. Oversee the implementation of tax structures and agreements.
* Team Management: Lead and develop the tax team, ensuring it is well-resourced and aligned with the Group’s needs. Oversee staff development, training, and succession planning.
* Governance & Reporting: Report regularly to the CFO, Group Tax Department, and relevant boards on tax developments and tax-related matters. Ensure all intra-group SLAs adhere to tax guidelines.
* External Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and the Irish Tax Authority. Represent the Group in tax matters with Irish tax authorities.
Key Criteria & Qualifications:
* Education: A background in finance or accounting, with certification preferred.
* Experience: 10+ years in the financial services industry (banking, capital markets, custody, fund administration), including 5+ years in team leadership. Experience with Big4 firms is desirable.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
* Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, decision-making ability, critical thinking, and the capacity to simplify complex issues. The ability to inspire and drive team commitment is essential.
* Languages: Fluent in English.
