Job Title: Graduate Metrology Calibration Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Graduate Metrology Calibration Engineer to join our team in Tuam, Ireland. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring that all key equipment is maintained in its calibrated state.
Main Responsibilities:
* Establish and maintain an internal calibration system, including the development of new SOPs and schedules for instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
* Work with cross-functional departments to migrate from old to new calibration systems.
* Identify and harmonize metrology practices across departments.
* Perform scheduled calibration and routine maintenance on equipment.
* Support the installation and qualification of new equipment, along with associated documentation generation and review.
* Risk assess and review legacy equipment to ensure it meets current standards.
* Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for site instrumentation metrology.
* Collaborate with Engineering and R&D teams to support calibration standards and maintenance schedules for bespoke in-house developed equipment.
* Liaise with external calibration and equipment maintenance providers to ensure adherence to internal processes and schedules.
* Compile reports on metrics internally and present to relevant stakeholders.
* Stay current with international standards and regulations to ensure company compliance.
Main Requirements:
* Third-level qualification (Min L8) in science or engineering, with specific metrology qualification as an advantage.
* Develop and maintain an internal calibration system.
* Risk assess and review legacy equipment to ensure it meets current standards.
* Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with attention to detail.
* Desire to work in a collaborative, team-based structure.
* Understanding of instrumental analysis in a laboratory setting.
* Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to improve the system based on this analysis.
* Good understanding of measurement system evaluation principles and approaches.
* Advanced computer skills (Excel, Outlook, JMP or Minitab expertise).
* Ability to collaborate across multifunctional groups.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
* Previous experience in metrology calibration within a laboratory environment.
* Knowledge of QMS (e.g ISO13485).
* Knowledge of physics and optical instrumentation.
* Prior experience in ophthalmic instrumentation.
* Engineering mindset with hands-on approach.
* Experience in maintaining high-end/complex systems for calibration.
