This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established Childrens Disability Network Team in Waterford. Role Purpose Childrens Disability Network Teams (CDNT) provides interventions to children from the age of 0-18 years, presenting with complex developmental needs requiring inter-disciplinary intervention. The Senior Social Worker is a valuable member of the Childrens Disability Network Team (CDNT). The CDNT provides an evidence-based service in line with family centred practice and Progressing Disability Services (PDS) principles. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team. The successful candidate will carry a case load, supervise Social Work staff & students as required and take the Social Work lead in key areas of service development, reporting to the CDNT manager and for clinical supervision to the Principal Social Worker. The Team is a well-established and very experienced multidisciplinary team. You will work alongside an experienced specialist team of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Behaviour therapists and Psychologists. Our client will offer access to formal and informal learning opportunities, support and supervision that encourages Therapists to be creative and innovative and to continuously develop their skills. Key Responsibilities Provide direct Social Work services to a defined caseload with Childrens Disability Network services in Waterford, both individually and in groups. Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team structure within the PDS framework. Develop and collate professional reports as required in accordance with high professional standards. To consult in family meetings, strategy meetings and case reviews as required. Timely updating of statistical records, including use of electronic databases. Promote and foster an understanding of the role and contribution of Social Work by providing professional consultation, education, guidance and support to others as appropriate. Ensure ongoing personal professional development including participation in Lead agency in-service training / Personal Development Plan and PDS training in agreement with Social Work Team Leader and CDNM. Participate and be a lead clinician as appropriate in review meetings, case conferences etc. Participate in or undertake research as required and agreed with Social Work team leader and CDNM. To maintain the persons and familys right to a relationship of mutual trust, privacy, confidentiality and responsible use of information. Demonstrate the ability to build capacity of individuals and families to navigate health and welfare systems and access information. Work with the policy and procedural guidelines of Lead agency ensuring that you remain up to date with changing policy directives. Engage in Professional Development and Performance Review. Actively participate in ongoing clinical supervision. Support of graduate Social Work placements as requested and delegated to do so. Direct their own personal professional development by ensuring that they maintain and develop their professional skill and knowledge. Planning and Organising of Activities and Resources: Plans and organises activities and necessary resources efficiently and effectively. Understands the importance of time management for themselves and in particular how this translates to organising their assigned caseload. Demonstrates the ability to arrange and schedule activities. Deals with unexpected scenarios with persistence and flexibility to ensure the achievement of goals. Essential Criteria: A recognised validated University Degree or Diploma or an equivalent qualification in Social Work. Be registered with CORU to practice in Ireland. Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience. Previous experience working in the area of Disability. Clinical knowledge, judgment and skills, including supervisory ability, to fulfil the functions of the role Experience in Child safeguarding Experience of group work Experience in family centred practice Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
