Our waste-to-energy facility in Meath is the first of its kind on the island of Ireland. We process over 220,000t of residual waste each year and produce electricity to power 22,000 homes annually.
We are looking to expand our team to facilitate growth. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly motivated individual who wants to learn new skills and develop in their career.
You will have responsibility for operational waste management at the AbbVie Cork facility in Carrigtwohill. Ensuring collection and transport of waste onsite and from the customer site to the end destination is conducted in a sustainable and compliant manner.
Role & Responsibilities
Safety First: As with everyone on site you will be trained to work safely and correctly, assuring a safe workplace for everyone.
1. Setting up and organizing Hazardous and non-Hazardous waste movements from site. Ensure all waste movements are 100% accurate and using the correct materials and paperwork. Be key point of contact for all movements of waste on site.
2. Ensuring that the correct signs and identification are present at the various storage locations. Storage of the waste materials at the designated stock location. Management of empty receptacles. Making waste materials ready for transport so they can be safely and correctly loaded for transport.
3. Ensuring correct and complete waste registration so it can always be shown that legal and/or customer requirements are complied with.
4. Attend monthly operation meetings & other waste related meetings as required, attend site audits & provide support and information as required, advise customer of waste handling and provide training as required, book inductions, get permits and method statements signed on and off for each job.
5. Audit paperwork, keeping up to date with the SOP’s on customers system, Haulier Audits, monitor all vendors to ensure they are approved.
Experience and qualifications
1. Leaving cert or equivalent
2. 1-2 years’ experience in Waste management or relevant experience in Pharma / Production, Petro-Chemical environments or equivalent
3. Experience or knowledge of chemical handling
4. Excellent verbal and written communication
5. Computer skills (MS Office package)
6. Strong team player
7. Forklift license would be an advantage.
8. Knowledge in the following areas is an advantage (DGSA, ADR / IMDG)
