Due to continued growth and ambitious plans for further expansion in Ireland, our client is recruiting a Manager to join their VAT team. The role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to accelerate their knowledge, skills, and development in a creative, entrepreneurial, and supportive team, working with lots of fantastic clients along the way.
The role will entail working as part of a multidisciplinary team to serve a range of international and domestic clients across a diverse range of sectors. A key part of the role will be to work with existing indirect tax senior management in developing the firm’s indirect tax service offering.
Responsibilities:
1. Full commercial management of a portfolio of indirect tax clients across a range of industries and overseeing a compliance portfolio.
2. Working closely with partners and senior management in the delivery of VAT advisory and consulting services.
3. Liaising with clients in a timely efficient manner, advising, researching, and resolving all relevant VAT issues and VAT technical matters on advisory assignments.
4. Corresponding with Revenue and other third parties on behalf of clients.
5. Support in the delivery of VAT function improvement and optimisation through the application of technology solutions.
6. Coaching, mentoring, and reviewing workload of associate level trainees including presenting in-house VAT training courses.
7. Working closely with other Business units within the firm to identify VAT opportunities to provide to existing clients.
8. Coordinating and collaborating with other member firms on cross-border projects and business development initiatives.
9. Contributing to the development of technical knowledge and training of staff on indirect taxes.
10. Contributing to the operational management of the tax business and taking responsibility for specific areas as required.
About the ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
1. A dedicated VAT professional, with experience working in a Big4/Top10 professional services firm desirable but not essential.
2. Experience in VAT on property transactions, RCT, due diligence projects and cross-border transactions desirable but not essential.
3. Comprehensive VAT technical knowledge and experience, and proficient in relevant tax technology tools.
4. Proven experience in managing a client portfolio.
5. A proven track record in business development and converting relationships into fee paying work.
6. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal as well as strong attention to detail skills.
7. Enthusiastic team player and manager with a passion to coach and encourage others to achieve their potential.
8. Ambitious – demonstrate strong commitment to personal learning and development.
