About the role of Radio Radar Technician:
· Responsible for maintenance, repair, and operational support of communication, radar, and electronic navigation systems onboard Naval vessels and shore facilities. Ensuring operational effectiveness through technical expertise.
· Training to manage, maintain, and operate ships, including crew responsibilities.
· As a Leading Radio Radar Technician, responsibilities include installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of navigation and communication equipment, and performing roles akin to a Petty Officer at sea.
· Assist in emergency response, firefighting, and damage control exercises.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
General Requirements:
* Citizenship or legal entitlement to work in Ireland
* Good character and security clearance
* Meet medical and physical fitness standards
Age Requirements:
Between 18 and 39 years old at application.
Professional Qualifications:
* Completion of one of the following degrees:
* B. Eng in Electronic Engineering (HETAC Level 7)
* B. Eng in Marine Electrotechnology (HETAC Level 7)
* B. Eng Ordinary Degree in Electronic Engineering - Military Communication Systems (Carlow)
* National equivalent, subject to review and approval
Recruitment Process:
Includes fitness test, competency-based interview, medical assessment, and Garda Vetting.
Pay and Allowances:
Basic salary of €49,000 with annual increments. Additional allowances of approximately €20,000 per year, including a tax-free overseas service allowance of €15,000.
