The Opportunity We are looking for a candidate that is interested in joining our Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research team and developing their career in the areas of wind, climate hazards and risk, microclimate and urban physics.
Our team works on multidisciplinary design projects and advances technical expertise to support innovative and resilient design solutions for the built environment.
As a Junior Climate and Wind Consultant at Arup, you will: Conduct studies to identify the impact of different climate and wind conditions on buildings, outdoor comfort, wind microclimate and walkability.
Use climate data and models to inform hazard and impact analyses of buildings assets and portfolios and understand the physical threat of climate change.
Collaborate with other structural engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and risk consultants on innovative buildings and infrastructure projects.
Work closely with our in-house technical and digital specialists to find unique solutions for our clients' challenges.
Technical report writing and preparation of presentation documents.
Attend design team meetings and present design outcomes.
Does this role inspire you? We're looking for candidates who are:
Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Master's or PhD Degree in Building Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or other related disciplines.
Have a fundamental knowledge of computational modelling (CFD, WRF or building and environmental physics tools preferred).Basic understanding of climate risk for the built environment.
Experience creating or adapting coding scripts (Python, GIS, or other programming languages) for data processing and visualization.
We also value:
Interest in developing skills on wind modelling (CFD or wind tunnel testing) and/or climate modelling.
Experience or familiarity with the built environment, i.e.
buildings, transportation infrastructure, and other civil infrastructure.
