An Cosán works to bring about social equality and an end to poverty through community-based adult education, the provision of early years' supports, wraparound counselling services, and empowering social enterprise development. Our Early Years' department has teams in 7 centres across Dublin City.
Overview: We're seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Early Years’ AIM professional to join our St Anne's, Fettercairn, service (15 hours per week). The ideal candidate will be flexible, warm and caring, and committed to providing high-quality early childhood care and education to children and families of all socio-economic backgrounds. They will have a qualification in early childhood education and understand and have experience of the Access & Inclusion Model of education. They can demonstrate the ability to create a stimulating and safe learning environment for young children. We use the High Scope Preschool curriculum and train our educators in its implementation.
Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum: Implement the curriculum approach within the pre-school rooms and adhere to the An Cosán’s Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures.
2. Child-Centred Approach: Foster a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages children's curiosity and independence while ensuring their safety. Act as a Key Worker for specific child/children in accordance with An Cosán’s Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures.
3. Observation and Assessment: Regularly observe and assess children's progress, adapting teaching methods to individual needs.
4. Communication: Liaise with parents individually, establishing positive relationships and attend group meetings when requested in relation to the development of the children.
5. Collaboration: Work with educators and staff, contributing to the educational program's improvement.
6. Promote Inclusion: Create an inclusive environment celebrating diversity among children and families.
7. Health and Safety: Ensure adherence to health and safety standards indoors and outdoors, including food safety, fire safety and insurance requirements, and ensure full compliance with all record-keeping obligations.
Qualifications:
1. QQI Level 5 or above in Early Childhood Care and Education or Equivalent. Level 7 is desirable and attracts a higher rate of pay.
2. Minimum 1 year’s experience working in an early years’ centre.
3. Experience working in a medium-sized team.
4. Working knowledge of implementing a play-based, child-centred curriculum approach.
5. Working knowledge of early years policies and procedures.
