FINANCE MANAGER - CONTRACT
Our client, a global leader in the life science sector, is seeking to hire a Finance Manager on a contract basis. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for coordinating and controlling the full range of complex accounting functions for the required regions. You will oversee the general accounting functions and manage team members within the GL function for that region.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, annual financial statements, and other internal or external reports as required, ensuring they are completed in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
2. Be responsible for the performance management of the team, ensuring that the 'Can do' process is maintained, SMART goals are set, and that team members receive relevant and timely feedback on an ongoing basis.
3. Organise the workload for the team and ensure that the right resources are available and trained to the highest standard.
4. Be responsible for the induction and training of new team members, ensuring that the highest levels of training are delivered and measured.
5. Drive continuous improvement to streamline processes.
6. Assist in the coordination of the daily workflow of the accounting team, including the completion of detailed account analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts.
7. Assist in the transition of GL functions both into and out of the SBS.
8. Manage both local and Philippines-based GL Accounting teams.
9. Develop new and streamline existing processes and systems as required to ensure more efficient delivery of value-added information to both internal and external stakeholders.
10. Prepare and analyse cost information for presentation to and review by divisional managers.
11. Be an effective team player who will drive efficiency and continuous improvement throughout the department.
12. Provide day-to-day cover for the team when members are absent, ensuring critical deadlines are met.
13. Manage the preparation of monthly financial reports for defined entities/regions, ensuring they are completed in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
14. Review entity balance sheet reconciliations at month-end.
15. Review entities' monthly accruals & prepayments to ensure all items are accurately captured.
16. Review entities' income statement variance analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis.
17. Review entities' compliance with US GAAP revenue recognition criteria.
18. Review significant revenue contracts for in-scope entities to ensure compliance with corporate revenue recognition guidelines.
19. Support the transition of functions (Record to Report in particular) to other locations.
20. Evaluate the need for all ad-hoc reporting requirements as they arise and manage and review reports for accuracy prior to publication.
21. Interface with corporate tax and treasury on all matters that impact the business unit, including tax strategies.
22. Collaborate with external audit staff for periodic year-end review procedures and local statutory audits as required.
23. Contribute to the development of local finance policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance for all accounting and finance operations.
24. Participate in ongoing policy and control environment development to ensure compliance with applicable internal control regulations.
25. Enhance existing processes and develop new ones to ensure the most efficient completion of duties.
26. Provide technical expertise, support, and guidance to the accounting group.
27. Promote teamwork within the group.
28. Develop relationships with both internal and external customers.
29. Liaise efficiently with corporate and with other IT business subsidiaries throughout the world.
30. Provide training and support where possible to the finance teams in Galway and the Philippines.
31. Ensure that the internal control environment is operating as intended and that any improvements are implemented in a timely fashion.
32. Provide assistance to the worldwide finance organisation where required.
33. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Requirements
* Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
* Third-level degree or equivalent
* Five+ years' experience – preferably with a Shared Service Centre/Multinational
* SAP/Oracle or other major ERP Systems experience is desirable
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
* Able to work independently to understand and summarise financial data into high-quality, accurate, and usable summaries
* Strong computer skills, especially MS Office & Qlikview
